The new Tergooi Hospital

Responding to the innovations in healthcare led in 2011 to the decision to build a new main location in Hilversum. At the end of 2022, all acute, intensive and clinical care of the current locations will be housed here. The new hospital will be the pivotal point of the Monnikenberg health park. Tergooi will realise the new building all at once, instead of the previously planned two phases. Hereby a new building will be realised consisting of four building sections (A,B,C,D) in which most of the care functions will be housed.

When designing the new hospital, Wiegerinck architects has made optimal use of the power of the green environment. For the design of the various building components, the architects used the forest as a source of inspiration. This can be seen in the facades. The vertical rhythm, the high windows, the tree-bark-like vertical brickwork and the specially produced façade elements with a unique pattern harmonize with the surroundings and subtly reflect the surrounding forest.

HPC facade elements with a unique pattern

For the new Tergooi Hospital, we are going to produce various façade elements made of high performance with reinforced glass fibre concrete for the corridors connecting the various (main) buildings of the new hospital. The facade elements include columns, eaves, slender seating elements and facade panels. A number of elements will be provided with a special pattern that refers to the wooded area. The engineering is in full swing, the first moulds have already been made and we expect to start with the production of the first elements soon.

Projects with HPC facade elements  

mbX has extensive experience in the production of façade elements in high-performance concrete. For example, mbX has produced 1500 double-curved HPC facade elements for the Arnhem Central Station. For the Lansingerland-Zoetermeer station mbX produced 3,600 m2 of HPC elements.
